My favourite things from Shopee
Shopee has a ton of products and a ton of meaningless reviews so here’s this aunty’s review on favourite items from Shopee Singapore.

Better Groceries
-
Wakame
Dried kelp to have on hand for quick and easy miso soups! Also check out the dashi miso paste I use for an easy miso soup.
-
Soy Sauce
Check the label on your soy sauce bottle and chances are you’re gonna find a long list of ingredients you don’t recognise. This is soy sauce like they used to make it back in our grandmother’s time. And it’s actual soy sauce, not some replacement that doesn’t taste like it!
-
Rice Vinegar
Great for Japanese recipes! I use this in our sushi rice and many of our easy Japanese dishes.
-
Rainbow Riced Veggies
Good to have in the freezer for fried rice, pasta sauces and anything you wanna throw little veggies into!
-
Potato Chips
A better potato chip made with extra virgin olive oil.
Also check out this Potato & Quinoa chips!
-
Peanut Butter
Peanut Butter that’s just peanuts and without sugar can be really messy and annoying to manage. I tried MANY brands before I landed on this one that spreads nicely on bread.
-
Natural Oyster Sauce
Oyster Sauce was a really hard one to find clean options for. This one still has sugar, but it’s heaps better than the usual ones you find at supermarkets. I also use this 100% Oyster sauce for an option without sugar.
-
Kimchi
Kimchi is a superfood but sadly many store-bought versions have a lot of rubbish ingredients in them these days. Look for ones with a simple ingredient list just like this one.
-
Japanese Curry Powder
Japanese curry is a sure-win meal for most kids, but the curry roux cubes aren’t so great so I use this for kid-friendly Japanese curry.
Bath & Household Cleaning
-
Multi-Purpose Cream Cleaner
I use this to clean really tough stains in the oven and on pans. It has natural ingredients so requires a bit more elbow grease but it does do a good job!
-

Shampoo bar
Even after post-partum hair loss came and left, I found that my hair fall was still high, and my scalp often itchy and oily. I also tried a couple of shampoo bars from the US and Australia and often found them leaving my hair super dry, or the bars would disappear in Singapore’s humidity. Postcard is a sustainable Singaporean beauty brand and wow does this shampoo bar work so well.. no more itchy scalp and just all round healthy hair!
-
Mesh Scrubber for dishes
I was always trying new sponges until I met this dish scrubber! It doesn’t leave bits of food on your sponge which I really can’t stand and works so well paired with this dish soap bar.
-
Food Safe Sanitiser
I used this to clean tables and high chairs whenever we ate out when the girls were babies because those hands went touched EVERYTHING.
And then for nasty toilets.. those short little hands and legs touch everything in the toilet cubicle!I also use it in my kitchen to sanitise my counter tops when I handle raw meat.
-
Facial soap bar
Soap bars are the most affordable clean soaps out there. This is my favourite!
-
Eczema Cream
This steroid-free cream works so well for eczema patches and dry and ensitive skin. It is steroid-free so it does take some time to work and probably would not work for very serious eczema flares, but is a good long-term solution.
Or buy it at a local pharmacy on your Australia trips!
-
Dish Soap Bar
Before I found this dish soap, I could not do the dishes regularly without getting eczema on my hands or my skin peeling. I’ve recommended this countless times to friends with the same problem and it’s worked 100% of the time for them!
This soap dish is great for keeping the mess of a soap bar minimal.
-
Castile Soap
A squeaky clean ingredient soap that’s super versatile. I order mobile refills by the gallon directly from The Castile Soap Shop and use them all over the house – as hand soap, dish soap for super oily items, to wash fruits and veggies, as multi-purpose spray.. the list goes on.
This is a must-have for any trip with kids as well since I can use it for anything.. even stains on clothing!
I usually get Sweet Orange or Unscented which are more suitable for households with kids.
Check out this Castile Soap Dilution Guide on how to use castile soap.
-
Baby Wipes
Both my babies had a bad rash on their bums once they started moving about. Both times it stopped once I switched our wipes. I also feel more comfortable wiping their hands and faces with these when we’re out.
-
Automatic Foam Soap Dispenser
An automatic foaming soap dispenser that lets you use your own soap, controls the amount of soap your kids use each time, and makes it easy for little toddlers to wash their own hands.
I also use this in the kitchen because aunty hates touching anything else after touching raw meat!
Kitchen Essentials
-

Yoshikawa Stainless Steel Pot
Heats up super quickly on my induction stove that I sometimes choose this over the microwave.
-

Rice Cooker with Stainless Steel Pot
If you’re looking for a stainless steel pot for your rice cooker, this is one of the few options that still lets you make all the rice cooker recipes!
Tip for ensuring the rice doesn’t stick: 15 min after the rice has cooked, quickly scoop all the rice away from the hot pot. Once the pot cools, the rice will start to stick.
-

Meat thermometer
With a meat thermometer you’ll never have to wonder if your meat is cooked through. I love that it comes with a table of all the temperatures for various types of food so you have all you need at a glance.
-
Vegetable Peeler for small hands
An excellent peeler! Blades stay sharp for long, the grip and shape is great for kids and adults. My girls love using this to peel and prep veggies.
-

Instant Pot Multi-Cooker (6QT)
I use this A LOT and you see it all the time in my videos. It makes large batches of soup and stews, sautes, steams and more. The best part is how soft it makes your meat which is so important for little kids.
-

Instant Pot Glass Lid (6 Quart)
I use this to store my leftovers in the pot, then take it right out of the fridge and back in the Instant Pot to reheat for my next meal.
